About this service
Consecutive interpreting is an interpretation mode in which the interpreter takes notes whilst the delegate speaks, and then renders that message in another language. Unlike simultaneous interpreting (in which the interpreter translates the original message at the same time as the speaker), in consecutive the interpreter translates after the speaker — hence it’s also sometimes called ‘delayed interpretation’.
Because it is done without the need for specialised equipment, consecutive interpreting services are a cost-efficient solution for a plurality of events, such as diplomatic exchanges, bilateral and multilateral relations, business meetings, small groups, public service and so forth.

It is mostly suitable for small groups and events involving no more than two languages (e.g. Portuguese and English). When doing consecutive interpreting, to allow back-and-forth interactions, the interpreter may be required to translate in both direction (e.g. from English into Portuguese, and from Portuguese into English).
The ability to deliver a successful interpretation through note-taking is hard-earned skill that linguists acquire through intense training and lots of first-hand experience.
